Mona’s Obsession plot: all that teasing has to go somewhere
Mona’s Obsession is built on a classic contradiction. Mona cannot stand her smug, mess-making stepbrother, yet she is always nosing around when he is near, and she never wastes a chance to tease him. The synopsis suggests that all the tension might need some kind of release.
It is a rivals-with-chemistry story, which makes it lighter and more comic than the heavier fantasy and revenge series. The mood is bickering, flirtatious and a bit mischievous. As with every title on Candy Shorts, the characters are fictional adults, and the step-siblings here are not related by blood.
What stands out
- A lead with a clear personality, since Mona is sharp, teasing and impossible to ignore.
- A push-and-pull dynamic that turns annoyance into attraction.
- A domestic, everyday feel, with mess and nosing around as the starting point.
- Two genre tags, Stepsister and Taboo, that signal forbidden-romance themes between step-relatives.
Rivals-to-lovers stories live or die on banter, and the synopsis promises plenty of it. Mona teases, her stepbrother is smug, and the mess he leaves behind gives her endless excuses to hover nearby. Each small spat is really a way of staying in the same room, which makes a fun engine for a short series.

Who will love it
If you like rivals-to-lovers stories, snappy banter and the Stepsister genre, this is a natural fit. It will also suit viewers who prefer a lighter, more playful tone to a dark one. There is no digital twin star attached. It is also a good place to start if you are new to the format, because the premise is easy to grasp and the tone stays light.
Our verdict on Mona’s Obsession
Mona’s Obsession has a simple, effective hook and a lead with attitude, which gives it a charm that stands out in the step-family group. The downside is that the premise is familiar, and the payoff is behind the paywall after the free opener. For a light, teasing watch among Candy AI Shorts, it works. If the bickering charms you in Episode 1, you will probably want to see where the tension ends up.
