House Rules plot: a stepmother with her own rulebook
House Rules begins with a homecoming. Her husband’s son is back from college, and his stepmother, restless and not shy about it, sits down to write a set of house rules. They are not the kind that keep a household tidy.
To complicate matters, the son’s girlfriend is under the same roof the whole time. Tagged MILF and Stepmom, it is a story about a woman who decides to stop waiting, an adult stepson back from college and the cover of family life. As with every Candy Shorts series, it is a fictional AI story about consenting adults, with a stepfamily tie that is not by blood.
What to expect from the household
- A clever central device, the written rules, which turns a family home into a game board.
- A restless lead who knows what she wants and puts it in writing.
- Everyone under one roof: the stepmother, her husband’s son and his girlfriend all share the same house.
- A homecoming hook that gives the story a natural beginning, with the son returning from college.
House Rules episodes: what costs and what does not
House Rules has 5 episodes, like most Candy Shorts series. Episode 1 is free to start on Candy AI; you keep going with a free sign-up. Later episodes sit behind Candy Premium or a one-off unlock for each. Subtitles are provided in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese, and dubbed audio is marked as coming soon. At the time of writing, Premium also includes 100 tokens per month, unlimited text messages and the ability to create your own AI companion.
Who will love it
Stepmom and MILF genre fans will recognise the dynamic straight away, particularly if you like a character who takes charge of the story. It is also a smart choice for viewers who enjoy a clear gimmick, such as the written rules, and for anyone sampling Candy AI Shorts for the first time.
Our verdict on House Rules
The rulebook gimmick gives the series a memorable hook, and the restless lead makes the premise easy to follow. The downside is brevity: five episodes is not much space for a story with this many people under one roof, and the premium paywall begins after the first. It is the kind of premise you can describe to a friend in one breath. Watch the free opener and judge whether her rules are worth following.
